The story : On the day of November 4th 1979 , an angry Iranian group known as the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line, storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran.
The group believes the Embassy is in fact harboring American spies and want them to be tried in court as criminals.
Out of all the American people working at the Embassy , six were able to escape and make their way to temporary safety in the home of Canadian diplomat John Sheardown, under the protection of Canadian ambassador Ken Taylor.
Now it is up to the CIA to find a way to get the Americans back to America.
Tony Mendez, an American expert smuggler of sorts is called in to concoct and execute a rescue plan.
