The story : Mark Sandman started his life on September 24 , 1952 in Newton , Massachusetts.
Mark being the eldest child of four to working class , depression-era , Jewish American parents. Mark was a ground breaker and limit pusher from the get go.
In his early adult years , he decided that working a regular 9 to 5 job wasnt for him. His parents advised him , keep working , stay in school or go off on your own. Mark picked flying the coup.
He traveled and soul searched , finding his way as he went.
After some time he found himself back in the Boston area and making some music with friends.
Mark , being a guitar player with his own sound shortly made a name for himself in the music biz.
First hits started coming at him while playing in the band Treat Her Right.
After a gig in Boston , where the club they were playing burnt to the ground - the next reincarnation of Marks' rock n roll life came along in the form of a three-man band called Morphine.
Touring and gigging around the world , the three men quickly found themselves at the top of the music heap.
After some horrible things had happened in Marks life , he found that all he could do was carry on and go as far as he could in his life.
Until one faithful day , in 1999 in Italy.
Morphine was playing a gig at a music festival on a hot , hot July night when traqedy struck Mark down.
He suffered a fatal heart attack while performing. He was only 46.

"Some years after Mark had past , his friends and family established The Mark Sandman Music Education Fund in order to give children in the Cambridge and Boston area an opportunity to learn musical instruments.
In 2008, this foundation had been renamed the Mark Sandman Music Project.
Housed in the Armory Arts Center at 191 Highland Ave. Somerville, the Project hopes to continue Mark's legacy."
