The story: When Chinese/American Joan Huang was little and just arriving in America, she perceived something.

Looking American seemed to bring all the opportunities. Better opportunities than she and her Chinese parents have in a foreign land that is now her home.

As a teenager, that perception has not changed. If anything, it has gotten worse.

After being bullied, ignored, and ridiculed, Joan has done everything in her own power to change her looks.

But nothing seems to be working. Although she does enjoy changing her appearance using an ethnicity filter app.

One day, after snapping a pic and changing her look, Joan is invited to visit the filter company for a chance to change her life.

This is something she cannot refuse.

As much as Joan believes this will be the answer to all of her problems, it's actually just the beginning of her problems.
