Out of Time : The Material Issue Story (2021)

Released November 14th in the US.
Filmed in Illinois, California, and New York.
The story: As a child, Jim Ellison loved music.
When he picked up his first guitar at a young age, that was it.
As a high school senior , Jim decided he needed to attend college to become a rock n roll star...
While attending college in Chicago, he formed his first and only band - Material Issue.
Jim was all about his music. He had a whole scheme planned out from day one.
He promoted the music and played at any venue he was invited to play.
It was important to take the music seriously and make money off of it.
Little by little, Material Issue took off.
Like so many before them, their music was way ahead of its time.
Finally, after being recognized for their talent and sought after by many labels, the band decided to sign by with Mercury.
By 1991 , they were touring all over the country.
In 1992 , their second album was released but it didnt make the money.
Mercury was on their tail in hopes that their third endeavor would be the one that made the money like the first time around.
The band began looking for inspiration and started work with a different , more famous rock n roll producer this time around - Mike Chapman.
Mike believed in Jim and the rest of the band. He wanted to work with them. He knew they were talented and that he could help them go further.
Material Issue's third album was released in 1994. It was an album the band and Mike were really proud of.
But it flopped.
Two years later , without any warning , Jim Ellison was gone at the age of 32.
