Made for the SciFi channel, airing May 2nd in the US.
Filmed entirely in Canada.
The story: In a laboratory, a scientist is working on a pesticide to further benefit bug sprays that eliminate yellowjackets and wasps.
Although not normally a threat, the bugs do cause havoc in their own way.
The last result of the study for the night kills off a handful of yellowjackets but leaves two alive, although aggressive.
Later that evening, a janitor at the lab is attacked and killed by those two surviving yellowjackets.
While the police are investigating, the scientist shows up and is questioned.
He finds one of the two yellowjackets which attacked but is completely unsure where the second one went...
But it didn't go far.
Its next victim happens to be the local coroner, who was handling the body of the janitor.
This causes a lot of confusion due to the percentage of people being allergic to wasps and yellowjackets being very low and rare.
When the help of a bug exterminator is called in at a local home due to an extreme amount of yellowjacket infestation, he gets his pesticide from the very laboratory where the experiments are being done.
The real problem is, the scientist isn't done with his experiments and had no idea that the pesticide has made the treated yellowjackets even more aggressive than planned.
This causes a world of harm to the local people of the small town just in time for its annual BBQ Burger Cook-Off celebration, mostly due to yellowjackets and wasps being attracted to meat.
