The story : Oren Little is a grumpy , aging man.
He lost his wife a few years ago and since then his personality has been...lacking.
Oren is looking to sell the giant , expensive house he shared with his wife and son and while in the process is living at another waterfront property that he owns.
The other tenants dont like Oren very much as he is just not a nice person.
Soon Oren is met by his son , who he hasnt seen in quite sometime.
His son informs him that he will soon be going to prison and he needs Oren to watch his almost 10-year-old daughter while hes gone.
Oren protests but he doesnt have a choice.
One of the older women who lives next door to Oren at the waterfront property , Leah - helps him with his granddaughter.
This is out of pure sympathy for the granddaughter , knowing how awful Oren is.
Eventually Oren , Leah and his granddaughter become very close , teaching Oren what it is to be a happy , caring person once again.
