Watchmen (2009)
Okay, for a story that was billed as "unfilmable" Zack Snyder made one hell of a movie. I am of the firm belief that most of the people who hated this movie were either those who were expecting another X-Men film or were just haters and weren't going to like it no matter what. If you've NOT seen this movie yet, understand that it isn't so much of a hero versus villain movie as it is a social commentary movie. There are tons of things in this movie to THINK about...not just gorge on popcorn and soda. The biggest aspect of this film is that it asks, what would OUR world be like if there were superheroes in it, especially one with near-godlike powers...how would it affect our life on Earth? What would you do with such powers, and where do you draw the lines of how to use it? There are no characters in this movie, save Rorschach, who is morally black and white. They are all shades of grey in their own ways and it makes them more believable...more human. Watch this movie with a thought toward deeper themes and ideas and I can't imagine it not be satisfying.
So definitely, by all means, watch the Watchmen.
The Story;
In a downtrodden alternate 1985, once celebrated masked heroes are now outlawed by the government.
When one of these former heroes is murdered, the investigation by his former comrades reveals a deeper
more ominous plot than a simple matter of saving their brethren from a superhero killer...
