Cherish (2002)

Released originally as part of a film festival, January 14th in the US. Later was released for theaters on June 7th in the US.
Filmed entirely in California.
The story: Zoe is a bit of an introverted young woman with one passion, music.
It seems that no matter how lonely she gets, she still has music to keep her company and cheer her up.
One evening, Zoe finds herself sitting with the guest of honor at a private party that she wasn't exactly invited to with people from her workplace.
She entertains most of her evening with the guest of honor.
By the end of the night and after many drinks, she is offered a ride home but she goes to her car for her phone before taking that offer.
Arriving at her car, she finds a man she doesn't know and was unaware that he has been stalking her, jumping into her car and forcing her to drive.
As he constantly directs her how to drive, she acknowledges that there is a police officer ahead.
But the man in Zoes car advises her to just continue on driving, even though the police officer at this point is summoning her to pull over.
Instead, the man in Zoes car forces her to run over the police officer and causes a crash up right after the fact.
Now Zoe finds herself thrown into the life of a criminal and looking at at least 15 years in prison if she cannot clear her name and prove she wasn't at fault for the death of the police officer.
